The „ pilgrimage „of charities of diocese of Ostrava-Opava was hosted by reconstructed cathedral of the Holy Saviour in Ostrava. Besides spiritual part the programme also included presentation of three charities celebrating significant anniversary of their establishment.
Firstly, the president of Diocesan Caritas Ostrava- Opava Mr. Jan Larish and the director Lukáš Curylo welcomed all participants and then the director emphasized the recent establishment of Caritas of St. Martin. Then the service began which celebrated Mons. Pavel Posád the president of Caritas of the Czech Republic. During the introduction he emphasized the pilgrimage dimension of the event and in his speech he also stressed the need to give not only take when he reminded the words of beatified Mother Teresa that „holiness is to do small things with big love.” His words then were beautifully illustrated by the presentation of four charities. Three of them celebrate anniversary of their establishment this year. Jan Hanuš, the director of Caritas Opava which this year celebrates 25th anniversary, reminded that at the beginning of this work was „community“ of believers and their seemingly small act of love. Recently, the charity takes care about needed literally from childhood till old age. The director of newly founded Caritas of St. Martin, Eva Macková subsequently spoke and she expressed gratitude to other charities for help and inspiration when starting service. In this caritas family she mainly expressed many thanks to „ parents“the director of DCOO Lukáš Curylo and his deputy Kristina Stozsková. Caritas Odry then presented twenty years of the service. In short, however, apt presentation the director Petr Kučerka graphically showed boom and transformation of this work. Similarly as Caritas Opava also Caritas Ostrava celebrates this year quarter of century of its founding. Closing this part the director Martin Pražák described its development. Refreshment in the form of cakes, caritas waffles, coffee, tea and mineral water was outside prepared for all participants. Before they have time for sharing all experience and news from their charities the last point of the programme started which was commented guide of newly reconstructed cathedral. It is almost tradition that Diocesan „pilgrimage“is accompanied by nice weather. However, the more important thing is that its participants returned home full of experience and encouragement. We would like to continue in this tradition also for future.
