Bílá Voda (region of Jeseníky) – In the only plant producing communion wafers in the Czech Republic – Unita in Bílá Voda in Jeseníky region – they came with new way of making use of leftovers from production of round wafers used for Holy Communion. Before the leftovers were put into bags and were distributed to parishes but now they came with more efficient and original utilization – special Unichips are made out of them.
Half a kilo for 20 Czech Crowns
A half a kilo package of non-standard chips made out of flour and water costs 20 CZK. Unichips are available for example in shops operated by charities or Carmelite Publishing House.
“We sell about 5000 packages per year at domestic market. Unichips contain neither fat nor salt so they taste exactly as communion wafers and are diet “ stated the executive director of Unita Milan Uhlíř.
